Privacy Policy

What Southwest Dallas News collects when you submit a tip or sign up, how it is used, and your choices.

What we collect

When you submit a tip, event, photo, or newsletter signup, we receive what you choose to send: your message and any contact details (such as an email address) you include. We do not require an account to read Southwest Dallas News.

How we use it

Submissions are used to evaluate, verify, and potentially publish local news. A newsletter email is used only to send the brief you asked for. We do not sell reader information.

Cookies & analytics

The site uses local browser storage to remember your city and reading preferences. We collect anonymous, first-party engagement events — the event type, route, and article id only — to power features like Most Read; no IP address, account, or other user identifier is stored with them, and no third-party analytics or ad trackers run. First-party error monitoring stores limited technical details when the browser reports a runtime error, such as route, message, browser user-agent, and screen size, so we can fix production issues.

Your choices

You can request that a submission or email be removed at any time via the Corrections page. Reading history, saved stories, text size, and theme live only in your browser storage — clearing it (or disabling storage) resets them and nothing about them ever reaches our servers.
